Specifications and Design of Honor 9 Revealed in TENAA Certificatication

Last year's Honor 8 was a pretty capable flagship from Honor, offering impressive hardware and a premium design at an affordable price point. Now, it looks like a successor to the Honor 8 is just around the corner.

The Honor 9 recently passed the TENAA certification in China which, in turn, also revealed some key details of this upcoming device. According to TENNA listing, the Honor 9 will pack a 5.15-inch full HD display and will be powered by the in-house Krin 960 SoC. The device measures in at 147.3 × 70.9 × 7.45mm dimensionally and weighs 155g. The listing also shows the device will come with 4 GB / 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of non-expandable storage. As for optics, the device features a dual-camera setup on the back — a 12MP and 20MP sensors, and an 8MP shooter on the front.

In terms of design, apart from some minor changes, the Honor 9 doesn't look like a whole lot different than its predecessor. As you can see in the images, the front of the device appears to be made out of the 2.5D glass while the back of the device features curved glass design similar to the Xiaomi Mi 6. One of the interesting change in the Honor 9, however, is that the fingerprint scanner has now been relocated to the front — based on your preference for the fingerprint scanner location, this could either be a good thing or bad thing.

 

Finally, the device will pack a 3,100mAh battery, up from 3000mAh battery of the Honor 8, and will come running Android 7.0 Nougat with the latest version of EMUI on top.

The Honor 8 was released in July of last year, but we might see an early launch for the Honor 9 as the company is rumored to officially launch the device in June. While there is no official confirmation on the pricing of the device yet, the rumors show the 4 GB version of the Honor 9 will cost 2,299 yuan ($335) while the 6 GB version will cost 2,599 yuan ($380).
