You may know of XDA Recognized Developer Francisco Franco from the highly praised custom kernel that he releases for a lot of Android smartphones. His custom kernels are what he's most known for, but he's also been dabbling into app development. Last year, he released a free application called Gratus which helps promote good vibes and positivity. For those of you who struggle to feel motivated, Gratus can act as a pick-me-up in your day-to-day life. The app has recently received a new update that brings it in line with Google's latest Material Design guidelines.
The other day Francisco Franco announced the big version 3.0 update to the application. He describes the new design as bold, cohesive, fluid, and beautiful. Along with the new look, we are told that Gratus also received a couple of updated features in this update and a few squashed bugs that have been reported by the community as well.
We've watched as Google has evolved Material Design since its inception. Some people treat Material Design as a set of strict rules that must be followed exactly, but Google has repeatedly stated that they are merely guidelines to help steer you in the right direction. Just last month they released a new Material Theming tool to help application developers and designers. Gratus is a great example of implementing a modern Material Design interface with its own unique flavor.
