NEWBIE - Tablet S slow and almost useless -- will this cure it?

Hello,
Just happened on this forum and thread ...
Ive got a Table S that is now almost useless.. keeps crashing the browser and running really slow.
I have been on the verge of dumping it in the bin for a while now..

I see on the FAQ there is talk of updates and installing files.

If I do this, and do it right, will this make the Tablet S some way usable again?

PS: sorry if this seems a stupid question.. but there is no introduction on the FAQ it just gets straight to the business of installing the new files. And I just want to be sure this is going to be a wise move...
