OnePlus 3 & 3T XDA Unified Development Subforum Incoming

Over the past several months, following the release of the OnePlus 3T, a growing number of OnePlus 3 and 3T developers have chosen to unify development of ROMs, kernels, custom recoveries, and all other projects for both devices.

We are planning to create unified development subforums for the OnePlus 3 and 3T for a single, shared hub of ROMs and Kernels. This unification provides a more straightforward and foolproof option for forum members and guests interested in making use of the wonderful work of numerous XDA developers or contributing to the community, and it is possible in part due to how similar the hardware of both devices is, as well as how relatively consistently and simultaneously patches and updates are being released for both the 3 and 3T.

While initial responses to this idea might show hesitation, this is largely due to a reasonable misunderstanding of the goal of this forum unification. Unified development for the OnePlus 3 and 3T already makes up a significant portion of the most popular modifications for those devices, and allows for both 3 and 3T users to utilize the same software packages without worry of accidentally bricking their device or requiring a factory reset. Of course, it is always a good idea to very carefully make sure that what you are downloading is precisely what you intend to flash. A close read of forum posts is in the best interest of all individuals interested in Android mods, regardless of whether the forums for those devices are unified or not. Developers will keep their posts updated and you shouldn't have trouble discerning compatibility in that specific subforum anyway.

In the near future, XDA moderators will begin to move all posts from both the OnePlus 3 and 3T forums into the new, unified forum for both devices. Users and developers can expect it to appear nearly identical to the current 3 or 3T forum you are accustomed to, with each development marked as compatible with the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, or both devices. Ultimately, this unification will hopefully offer a more user and developer-friendly environment for both device communities. Updates on the unification process will be posted in a timely manner over at this XDA forum post.

Lastly, to clarify, this forum unification will only create a unified Development subforums for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. All other subforums (Q&A, Guides, Themes, Accessories, etc.) and the main forums for each device will remain separate. The original Development subforums for each device will also remain in place for now, and will continue to act as a location for truly device-specific development work.
