LG G6+ With 6 GB of RAM And 128 GB of Storage Announced in South Korea

South Korea is the home country of several smartphone OEMs including Samsung and LG. The two companies are vying for dominance in the smartphone market space, with the former releasing its latest flagship the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ and the latter releasing the LG G6 ahead of Samsung. However, at the time Samsung was the only OEM able to launch their phone with the latest Snapdragon 835 SoC on board, but LG is looking to rectify this dispartiy with the announcement of the premium version of the G6 model. The upgraded variant of the flagship device called the LG G6+ with 6 GBs of RAM and 128 GBs of storage will go up for sale in South Korea early next month.

The LG G6 is a great device. The basic version of the smartphone comes with a 5.7-inch QHD+ display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC, 4 GBs of RAM, 32 GBs or 64 GBs of internal storage, a dual 13 MP cameras at the rear and a 5 MP front-facing camera. It also packs a hefty 3,300 mAh battery. The new phone will offer premium earphones from B&O PLAY which will complement the 32-bit Hi-fi Quad DAC found in the phone. The company's portfolio will now feature three devices under the G6 name.

The LG G6+ variant will be available in three new color options — Optical Astro Black, Optical Terra Gold, and Optical Marine Blue. LG adds that the new color options feature a layer of lenticular film at the back, giving them the ability to refract light and deliver an optical effect.

LG does not plan to ship a different software version in the G6+. Users will get the same Android 7.0 Nougat with LG UX 6.0 that ships out with the G6. The South Korean giant mentions that a new software update will start rolling out next month bringing in a so-called Face Print feature that will allow the user to unlock the phone just by holding it in front of the face. LG claims that the unlocking process will take less than a second. Additionally, LG will also offer better battery optimization with a feature called Low Power Consumption. Finally, the device will also inform the user that a photo might be altered when a finger is accidentally placed over the camera lens.

We don't know anything about the pricing of the new G6+ model, but we do know that LG plans to release the smartphone globally shortly after its South Korean debut.
