OnePlus has received a lot of attention this week with the announcement of the OnePlus 6 passing the 1 million units sold milestone in only 22 days. It may have taken the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T longer to reach that number, but they are still great devices and are incredibly popular within the enthusiast community. Today, the folks over on the OnePlus forums have announced two new OxygenOS open beta updates that are headed to the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T which focus on security patches and camera improvements.
OnePlus uses their open beta program as a way to trial some of their upcoming features and changes that they have planned for a full release. Rolling them out to the smaller open beta community first gives them a chance to squash as many bugs as possible while also receiving some valuable feedback from the community. These generally roll out once a month with April's update highlighting earphone mode options and May's update adding group MMS and support for editing dynamic icons.
This month the OnePlus 5 is receiving Open Beta version 12 while the OnePlus 5T is receiving an update to Open Beta 10. The updates are actually small in size and content, but like the previous ones, it gives the company a way to keep devices up to date on Android's monthly security patches. So with this update, the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T will have their Android security patch level brought up to June 2018. The changelog also mentions some improvement to camera clarity and optimizations to try and reduce the reported "oil painting effect." Check out the release notes below.

The full download links aren't yet available for either device, so if you want to get the update now you'll have to use a VPN to connect to one of the markets where OnePlus is currently rolling out the OTA update. You can easily do so using the free Oxygen Updater app.
