Hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy S20 series [VIDEO]

Samsung officially took the wraps off the Galaxy S20 series today. We’ve been waiting a while for this announcement, and for the most part, it seems to have lived up to the hype. Of course, we knew a lot about the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra heading into the event. Pocketnow’s Jaime Rivera had early access to the devices and shared his first impressions.

As with many Samsung flagship launches, there’s so much to unpack here. The Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra have just about any feature and high-end spec you can imagine. One thing it doesn’t have is a headphone jack, but Samsung is still sticking with microSD card support. That microSD card may come in handy if you take full advantage of the 108MP camera on the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Speaking of the Galaxy S20 Ultra, this is the first phone with 16GB of RAM. We’ve seen many phones with 8GB of RAM and 12GB has started to become more common as well, but 16GB is a number we haven’t seen yet. That’s a lot of RAM and Jaime says the phone feels just as fast as you’d imagine.

Jaime talks about how the design is very reminiscent of the Galaxy A series. The curved display is much, much less pronounced than on previous Galaxy flagships. Jaime even had to ask if the display was curved at all. Sticking with design, the phones are available in Black, White, Blue, and Pink.

The biggest visual difference between the three Galaxy S20 models (besides size) is the massive camera setup on the Galaxy S20 Ultra. All three models have at least three cameras, but the Ultra has an extra depth vision camera. The camera bump itself is labeled with “100X” zoom and that’s a big feature of the Ultra. Samsung may not have the absolute best cameras, but they are certainly near the top.

There’s obviously a lot going on in the Galaxy S20 series, so be sure to watch Jaime’s full hands-on video above. Stay tuned to XDA for more coverage of these devices as well.
